Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 & 6.6 Migration and Support Path to Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition

Summary

While the Linux-based Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition represents the ultimate value-and ideal roadmap-for small business customers, Novell recognises that many customers are not quite ready to make the move and are looking for ways to extend the life of their Novell Small Business Suite deployments in the meantime. To help them accomplish this, Novell is offering two new options:

The ability to extend their current environment (up to 200 users) by adding Novell Open Enterprise Server Small Business Edition licences to their existing licence counts. This entitles them to an unlimited licence to deploy NetWare 6.5 SP7 for their users.

The ability to get support for NetWare 6.5 SP7 (through to March 7, 2010) by converting their Novell Small Business Suite licences to Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition licences with maintenance. When the support period expires, these customers will be licensed and ready to experience the many benefits of small business solutions on Linux.

Licensing

Customers who have purchased the NetWare-based Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 or 6.6 can now extend their user counts for these products by purchasing Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business licences. Customers must update their NetWare product to NetWare 6.5 SP7 through download.novell.com.

Upgrade to NetWare 6.5 SP7

Customers will not receive any additional NetWare licences. The NetWare 6.5 SP7 download will provide customers with an unlimited licence file. Please note that this is a complete product download and not just a patch. Customers are entitled to use NetWare licence connections equal to their combined licence total for Novell Small Business Suite and Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition (up to the 200 user limit).

ZENworks Dependencies

Novell Small Business Suite customers who continue to have ZENworks Suite dependencies and wish to expand their ZENworks Suite use must upgrade to the full edition of Novell Open Workgroup Suite.

Support

Support will follow the NetWare support statement as indicated at support.novell.com/lifecycle/.
Customers must purchase maintenance for Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition in order to receive support for their NetWare product. If a customer wishes to receive support, they must first upgrade all licences in their install base to the latest version of Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition, and purchase Standard or Priority maintenance for all licences in their install base. Customers will not receive support for any product that is shipped as part of the Novell Small Business Suite other than NetWare.

Timeline

Customers who take advantage of this offer will be entitled to receive technical support through March 7, 2010 if they have purchased maintenance on their entire install base. Maintenance for Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition will only cover the Linux-based product after that date.
