Small Business Server 2008 is almost here!
SBS is back! The new Windows Essential Server Solutions family is being officially released on November the 12th 2008. A key player in this family of new products is the ever popular Small Business Server, with SBS 2008 being the follow up release from the very successful SBS 2003.
Small business server 2008 is an all in one server solution which provides many features normally used by larger companies, such as e-mail, Internet connectivity, remote access, support for mobile devices, file and printer sharing, internal web sites and many more great features and benefits for smaller organisations, at an affordable price.
SBS 2008 comes in two editions, being standard and premium. Both versions are based on Windows Server 2008 and include such features as Exchange 2007, Sharepoint Services 3.0, Remote Web Workplace, Windows Server Update Services and also an additional Windows 2008 standard licence for a second server, which is part of the new SBS 2008 design. This design is intended to alleviate the pressure of running all SBS components on just the one server, by running SQL and Terminal Services on a second server. This is great news for clients who may run heavy line of business SQL based applications on a current SBS 2003 server. The Premium version of SBS 2008 also includes the power of SQL 2008 Standard Edition and can run the new Hyper V technologies within the SBS 2008 Premium environment.
